The first laser light in Norway was generated in 1962 by Tycho Jæger. When the first working laser was reported in 1960, it was described as “a solution looking for a problem“. Jæger saw it rather as a solution solving a problem. This was the start of NEO (Norsk Elektro Optikk). In the 1990’s NEO entered into the exciting world of Gas Spectroscopy and became one of the leading suppliers of Gas Analyzers based on Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy (TDLS). NEO Monitors was founded in 2003 to take over the responsibility for the manufacturing and marketing of the gas and dust monitors. In 2017, NEO Monitors was aquired by Swedish Nederman Group who is a world-leading supplier and developer of products and solutions within the environmental technology sector. The Group has over 1900 employees and is present in more than 50 countries.
