Assembly

Device Packaging Services

In conjunction with EirMed’s finishing and assembly services, we offer customized device packaging. Each packaging solution is selected to ensure safe and cost effective delivery of your medical devices. EirMed has developed partnerships with sterilization companies to ensure all sterilization requirements are met. Offering a variety of methods from EtO and Gamma to E-Beam and X-Ray, our partners are capable of sterilizing small and large device shipments for delivery around the world. We are currently working with a customer that uses a light-sensitive, bioresorbable polymer in their device. The product is molded, assembled and packaged, in customized packaging, under controlled conditions to prevent hazardous light from reaching the surface of the device and degrading the finished product.

Design

Tool Design Services

EirMed designs and creates tools for molding medical devices and their components. Our engineers analyze the device’s part designs to determine the tool’s ideal locations for the sprue, gates and runners along with tolerances and plastic selection. A key component of our tool design expertise is our engineer’s focus on the clients’ needs. Every tool is different and each requires a complete examination of the client’s devices and tooling requirements to create a successful design. Our engineering team gathers valuable input from our tooling specialists and manufacturing team. Their collaborative input influences the designs from different points of the manufacturing process. We adapt to handle unique situations, enabling us to find the exact solution needed for your medical device and mitigating the risk for lengthy and costly redesigns.

Tool Prototyping Services

EirMed develops a tool prototype as soon as our team of engineers, manufacturers and the client agree on the tool’s design. Tool prototyping is the next step of the design and engineering process before full-scale manufacturing begins. By prototyping and testing the tool, we get an accurate depiction of the tool’s capabilities along with what the finished part would look like. This step in the process allows us to run mold flow analysis to determine best materials for the part, identify problem areas that weren’t apparent in the design and adjust aspects of the design or tool to eliminate potential risks.

Manufacturing

Micromolding Services

Among EirMed’s wealth of experience in plastic injection molding is our expertise in micromolding. Our ability to mold microscale parts with precision and detail is one of the many aspects that has propelled EirMed to the forefront of medical device manufacturing. The combination of our skills, knowledge and proficiency have pushed us to new levels. We custom engineer solutions for clients with very specific needs on a daily basis, often coming up with solutions that have never been done before. While traditional plastic injection molding requires scientific knowledge and innovation to yield the intended part specifications, micromolding takes it to another degree. Micromolding has been particularly beneficial in the medical device field, as many surgical tools and devices need microscale components to perform properly. Manufacturing these parts by any other means would be near impossible due to the large molecule make up of most plastics and the parts’ needs for precision.
