A distinct desire for innovation, a unique idea and a good sense for the challenges in modern dental offices: Taking these ingredients as a basis, Bernd Bühner and Pierre Mabille in 1981 founded the company EMS Electro Medical Systems – quality made in Switzerland.

In 1983, we presented our first prophylaxis devices. With the systems AIR-FLOW^® and PIEZON^®, we have since sustainably changed and shaped the approach to dental care. And in doing so, we have always been guided by a specific conviction: that a visit to the dentist should be pleasant and painless.

With this vision, we have become one of the world's most successful dental companies. Today, more than 600 people work together with us on a daily basis to make dental prophylaxis increasingly successful, fast, painless and effective.

In a valley in which your neighbours are Jaeger-LeCoultre and Breguet, extraordinary things are certainly possible. Whoever stops here gets a sense of what silence really is. And when you look around, you can read names that are usually found in very different, far less quiet situations: Jaeger-LeCoultre, Breguet, Audemars Piguet, Blancpain. The valley is home to the workshops that manufacture the most exclusive timepieces that money can buy. This is the home of filigree manufacturers, whose over 200 years of craft tradition radiates far beyond the borders of this special valley.

Pierre Mabille, one of the founders of EMS, developed and promoted the piezo principle for the removal of calculus. He is also the inventor of AIR-FLOW^®, which opened a new chapter in the area of prophylaxis. The technology was created using the expertise of the entire valley, including the detailed problem-solving abilities of all the people who work here. It also involved a close cooperation with Jaeger-LeCoultre and the suppliers of the most exclusive watch manufacturers worldwide, who are based in a place where timepieces, like the leading heads who work here, are more accurate than anywhere else in the world.

The quiet Vallée de Joux, which is driven by the demand for perfection, is where we developed, and have today become a globally successful company with over 900 employees. We are market leader in the field of air-polishing and ultrasonic scalers, which are appreciated for their extraordinary quality as well as for their exceptional durability – real Swiss quality.
