Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich, Utrecht University and DESY have filmed the flow behaviour of liquid crystals using a unique experimental setup at DESY’s X-ray source, PETRA III. One of the things the new method shows is how the inner structure of a liquid crystal sample changes. The German-Dutch team published its observations in the journal “Physical Review Letters”.
