Indo German Carbons Limited was established in India in 1995 as an associate company of Galfar Engineering and Contracting LLC, Muscat, (www.galfar.com) one of the largest and most reputed engineering and infrastructure development companies in the Middle East, with operational base in Oman, Qatar, UAE, Brunei and India and annual turnover above US $ 1.2 billion.

Dr. P. Mohammed Ali, a first generation entrepreneur with great vision, is the principal promoter of the group. He was honoured by the government of India, in January 2004 by the then President of India, for his outstanding contribution to the society. In addition to numerous other distinguished awards, he has also been conferred the "Oman Civil Order" (the only Indian to be presented with this coveted award), by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said; & "Honorary Doctorate of Science" by Caledonian University of Glasgow. He also received the prestigious "IOD Distinguished Fellowship Award – 2007" from the Institute of Directors on 22 Aug 07.
