The placental membrane may be repurposed after delivery as a semi-permeable protective barrier that supports the healing cascade. For patients with challenging wounds (e.g. non-healing ulcers) or requiring surgical procedures, placental-based therapies are a valuable treatment option. Clinical evidence from many randomized clinical trials have demonstrated that placental-based allografts provide a significant benefit in wound closure compared to the standard of care.^1-11
