Insert grids for installation in X-ray cassettes (grid dimensions = film format). Outside grids, are placed loosely on the X-ray cassettes (grid dimensions = cassette dimensions). slip-on grids for mounting on X-ray cassettes; available with and without protective carbon fibre cover (figure shows slip-on grid with protective carbon fibre cover).

The use of grids in digital radiology (DR) necessitated a reconsideration of our well-known and approved type of slip-on (frame of stainless steel with carbon fibre front). The determining aim was to develop a lightweight slip-on-grid as the weight just of a digital detector 35x43 cm (outside dimensions 459 x 383 x 16 mm) is up to 5 kg – depending on the manufacturer.
