Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) is a medical imaging technology that uses MRI and low-frequency mechanical waves to noninvasively measure the stiffness of biological tissues. MRE is an FDA-cleared upgrade for MRI systems and is currently available at over 1,800 sites across the globe as a painless and less expensive alternative to needle biopsy for liver fibrosis staging.
