Nebulizer Therapy

Effectively delivering medication to your lungs is an essential component of treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), bronchitis, pneumonia, or asthma. Sometimes, traditional inhalers may not be enough, and a physician may prescribe a nebulizer to treat your breathing difficulties. Nebulizer therapy is often called a breathing treatment. Nebulizers are especially helpful when a patient needs a large dose of inhaled medication. A nebulizer turns a small amount of liquid medication into a mist inhaled through a mask or mouthpiece, so the medicine goes straight into the lungs and respiratory system. This proven method has been a frontline treatment of respiratory disease for many years.

Home Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen is essential to human life, and when your body doesn’t have enough oxygen in the bloodstream, doctors sometimes recommend home oxygen therapy in the form of a home oxygen concentrator or portable oxygen system. Just as gas fuels your vehicle and keeps it running, oxygen travels to the respiratory system’s hub of organs and tissues, energizing the airways and lungs. The airways are an entryway for oxygen-rich air to enter the lungs and be absorbed into the bloodstream, making its way to the heart. Carbon dioxide uses the same paths to exit the body. However, for some individuals, certain chronic conditions and illnesses restrict these pathways and prevent them from getting ample amounts of oxygen into the blood.

Sleep Apnea

During sleep, especially during the deepest stages of sleep (called REM sleep), the muscles in the back of the throat relax. This causes the upper airway to become smaller. Sleep Apnea is a sleep disorder where the upper airway collapses, causing a blockage of air movement into the lungs and stopping airflow for several seconds or more. An apnea is a pause in breathing, lasting at least 10 seconds. Apneas can occur multiple times each hour and can last anywhere from seconds to minutes before regular breathing restarts. These pauses in breathing can be extremely disruptive to your sleep. A move from deep sleep to “lighter” sleep called an arousal may occur during apneas, affecting your ability to maintain deeper stages of restful sleep.

Ventilator Therapy

Rotech offers both invasive and non-invasive ventilators for patients with neuromuscular disease, thoracic restrictive disease, and chronic respiratory failure related to COPD.

Airway Clearance Therapy with Afflovest

Rotech offers the AffloVest, an airway clearance device that helps clear chest airways and can be used at home or anywhere. Quiet, portable, and easy-to-use, the AffloVest allows those with Bronchiectasis, Cystic Fibrosis, and other neuromuscular diseases to use airway clearance therapy without impairing quality of life. High-Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFCWO) is an airway clearance technique where external chest wall oscillations are applied through a fitted vest. The vest produces vibrations at variable frequencies and intensities to effectively break up mucus and bring it to the upper airways where it can be coughed out or removed. Effective treatment can improve lung function over time, reducing chest infections, antibiotic use, and chronic cough, as well as decreasing hospital admissions and readmissions.
