Clean Genome E. coli - Technology
C-Flow - Continuous Fermentation Technology
Our patented C-Flow™ continuous fermentation process is designed to produce large quantities of biopharmaceuticals with small scale inexpensive equipment, saving dramatically on costs. The C-Flow™ process was developed using Clean Genome® E. coli strains expressing recombinant CRM197, a carrier protein used to enhance the immunogenicity of poorly immunogenic carbohydrates in conjugated vaccines.
Vaccine Carrier Proteins
Protein Conjugate Vaccines
Protein D is a 42 kDa surface-exposed lipoprotein from Haemophilus influenzae that is utilized as an effective carrier protein for polysaccharides and haptens in human conjugated vaccines to enhance immunogenicity while maintaining disease antigen specificity. The effectiveness of this approach has been shown with GSK’s Synflorix®, GSK’s Pneumococcal Conjugate, which contains Protein D conjugated to weak antigenic sugars to render them more immunogenic while maintaining disease specificity.
Protein
Cross-Reactive Material 197 (CRM197) is a non-toxic mutant form of the 58-kd diphtheria toxin that serves as a carrier protein for polysaccharides and haptens in a number of conjugate vaccines, to enhance their immunogenicity. The effectiveness of this approach has been shown with Prevnar®, Pfizer’s Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, which contains CRM197 conjugated to weakly antigenic sugars to render the vaccine more immunogenic while maintaining disease specificity.
