Nordion

Nordion - Gamma Processing Device

Nordion is the world’s leading supplier of Cobalt-60 (Co-60) sources for gamma processing. This source model, the C-188, is double encapsulated and delivers the industry standard in performance, reliability, and service in gamma processing.

Nordion - Medical-Grade Cobalt

Medical-grade Cobalt-60, referred to as High Specific Activity (HSA) Cobalt-60 in the healthcare industry, has great benefit to human health across the globe.

Nordion - Gamma Irradiation Systems

Not only does Nordion provide Cobalt-60 to companies in the medical device industry, food industry and other industries for innovative applications for sterilization and irradiation of products, we also manufacture irradiation systems. There are over 200 large-scale irradiation facilities in operation in 40 countries—and over 120 have been built by Nordion.

Sterigenics - Technologies

Sterigenics - Electron Beam Irradiation Technology

Electron beam (E-Beam) irradiation is a form of ionizing energy that is characterized by its low penetration and high-dosage rates. The beam – a concentrated, highly charged stream of electrons – is generated by accelerators capable of producing continuous or pulsed beams. As the product/material being sterilized passes the E-Beam, energy from the electrons is absorbed, altering various chemical bonds, damaging the DNA, and destroying the reproductive capabilities of the microorganisms. Sterigenics provides a portfolio of high-energy electron accelerators for industrial applications including the IMPELA(R) accelerator.

Sterigenics - Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Technology

Based on a gas diffusion process, Ethylene Oxide (EO or ETO) is capable of sterilizing and rendering products free of viable microorganisms. Sterility occurs when an EO gas molecule reacts with and destroys the microbial DNA. The process requires the simultaneous control of four variables, but interdependent parameters: gas concentration, temperature, relative humidity, and time of exposure. EO sterilization effectiveness depends on its ability to freely diffuse through a product and packaging. All products must be placed in breathable packaging that allows gas to penetrate the sterile barrier and reach all surfaces of the device or product.
