TMS therapy (for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) allows to stimulate the cerebral cortex in a painless and not invasive way, by means of a coil emitting brief electromagnetic impulses. TMS is focused on superficial areas of the cortex about 2 cm². Impulses can be repeated to frequencies included between 1 Hz and 50 Hz (we often speak then of rTMS - repetitive transcranial magnetic simulation) and during several sessions in order to obtain a long-lasting therapeutic effect. Localization of the cortical target underneath the scalp of the patient is one of the great issue of TMS, that is solved thanks to Syneika One neuronavigation technology.
