Sutures - Absorbable Sutures

Vital Sutures - Model Antibacterial Polyglycolic Acid - Braided Multifilament Absorbable Suture

Antibacterial Polyglycolic Acid: synthetic absorbable sutures coated by a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, which creates an effective inhibition zone against pathogen agents frequently causing surgical site infections. These type of sutures have the same behavior than the regular synthetic absorbable sutures, having a composite plastic coated polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate coating Triclosan.

Vital Sutures - Model Chromic Catgut - Monofilament, Absorbable Suture

Chromic Catgut: absorbable suture of natural origin, with a composition of 97 to 98% pure collagen obtained from the intestinal mucous of sheep (ovine) and the intestinal serous of beef (bovine). The threads are treated with chromic salts to enhance its resistance to tissue liquid enzymes, giving a coating that extend its integrity and absorption time, developing a proper healing. This suture has a tensile strength that maintains from 14 to 21 days.

Vital Sutures - Model Polyglecaprone - Synthetic Absorbable Suture of Monofilament Structure

Polyglecaprone: synthetic absorbable suture composed by a copolymer of glycolic acid and caprolactone, which causes minimal tissue reaction, enables smooth passage through tissue and has an excellent resistance to the initial stress. It has a low incidence of infection and trauma, and its strength is up to 60% greater than Gut sutures. This suture is useful in procedures involving tissues whose critical recovery period is relatively short.

Vital Sutures - Model Polyglactin 910 - Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture

Polyglactin 910: synthetic absorbable surgical suture, it is indicated for procedures that require approaching tissues (mainly soft) for a period of 56 to 70 days. Allows an accurate placing of the knot, and tends less to plaster the tissues. This suture is made of glycolic acid—lactic acid copolymer (910), and has a synthetic coating made of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate.

Polydioxanone - Monofilament, Synthetic Absorbable Suture

Polydioxanone is a monofilament, synthetic absorbable suture that meets the USP requirements, except for the diameter, which is ruled by the British Pharmacopeia.  It is degraded by non-enzymatic hydrolysis. It has a minimum absorption process after 90 days of being implanted, and the thread is completely reabsorbed within 6 months after implantation. This suture has a high tensile strength.

Sutures - Non Absorbable Sutures

Vital Sutures - Model Black Braided Silk - Non Absorbable Multifilament Surgical Suture

Black Braided Silk is a non absorbable multifilament surgical suture of animal origin, and has a silicone coating which limits the absorption and minimizes tissue reaction. This absorbable suture is composed of natural protein fiber produced by the silkworm. Its ease of handling admits twisting and braiding. Silk threads are treated with waxes and / or silicone to reduce its capillarity, and are stained black to promote their visibility.

Vital Sutures - Model Twisted Linen - Non Absorbable Suture of Vegetable Origin

Twisted Linen is a non absorbable surgical suture of vegetable origin and twisted multifilament structure. Although it causes significant tissue reaction, shows no uniform diameter and gauge in its manufacturing and is very easy to humidify, it has very good security in the knots and high tensile strength. This suture’s strands are not reabsorbed, but over time they’re encapsulated by tissue and lose 50% of its strength over a period of 6-9 months.

Vital Sutures - Model Monofilament Nylon - Synthetic Non-Absorbable Monofilament Surgical Suture

It is a synthetic non-absorbable monofilament surgical suture of excellent elasticity, easy passage through tissue and high tensile strength, which produces almost no tissue reaction. This is a thread with great tendency to return to its original state (memory), so it is necessary to apply more knots than braided sutures. It becomes flexible in contact with liquids. It is the non-absorbable material of choice for plastic surgery, nerve repair, vascular surgery, etc.

Meshes

Vital Sutures - Model BioMesh - Polypropylene Surgical Mesh

BioMesh : surgical mesh constituted by polypropylene monofilaments; sterile synthetic material, strength similar to steel, low density, considerable stability and durability in contact with tissues. BioMesh is a polypropylene mesh designed for permanent implantation in the body during open or laparoscopic procedures, and has the role of stabilize and strengthen defects of soft tissues, and act as a sling to support prolapsed organs and viscera.

Vital Sutures - Model BioMesh Light Plus - Low-Density Polypropylene Mesh

BioMesh Light Plus : surgical mesh constituted by low-density polypropylene monofilaments. Very flexible and easy to handle in comparison to other non-absorbable meshes. BioMesh Light Plus low-density polypropylene mesh is able to maintain a high tensile strength at the tissue level since they are non-absorbable and its structure also benefit the adherence to the tissues. This makes it the surgical mesh most used in the definitive treatment of parietal defects.
