Born in Montreal, Canada from the collaborative work between university academics and researchers in orthopedics biomechanics and aerospace entrepreneurs, Pega Medical has strived to increase the knowledge and improve the treatment of orthopedic conditions. Since its foundation in 1994 as a bioengineering service company, Pega Medical has collaborated with OEMs, universities, and surgeons from different parts of the world in the development, evaluation and regulatory approval of innovative osteosynthesis and deformity correction devices.

Today, Pega Medical is known for its dedication to pediatric orthopedics. This niche was born in 1997 out of a growing demand from surgeons who wanted to be able to treat children as distinct individuals with their own complexities and needs, and not as small adults. The first two pediatric products that initiated this trend towards maintaining the normal growth of the child while correcting the deformity consisted of a non-fusion spinal device for the correction of idiopathic scoliosis and a telescopic rod for correcting bone deformities in OI (known today as the Fassier-Duval telescopic IM system).

Pega Medical has continued to assist surgeons in solving surgical issues and focusing on new and improved devices especially designed and developed for the paediatric patient. Today, Pega Medical is recognized not only as a innovator with distinct devices reaching children with orthopedic conditions in over 50 countries around the world (a small international company with a brain), but also as company who puts the care of patients and the assistance to the surgeons as its first priority wherever they live (a small international company with a heart).
