Product accreditation information packContents1 Accreditation explained2 The bene?ts of accreditation3 Accreditation branding4 The accreditation process5 What happens next?6 Timescale7 Fee Structure8 Background to the organisation9 Contact usThe Product Accreditation Service from RSPH endorses products which maintain and improve public health, hygiene and safety by assessing the health and hygiene claims made for products in advertising and marketing materials. The new service builds on our previous product certi?cation scheme. This was ?rst launched in 1904 with the objective of promoting high standards in product safety and quality. This objective remains as relevant today. The income generated from the product accreditation service will be used to further the charitable aims of the RSPH in education, public health advocacy and health promotion. Our panel of technical experts assess the hygiene and safety claims made by manufacturers in advertising, on packaging and on their websites. They review the scienti?c evidence provided by the manufacturer and advise whether the claims are adequately supported by it. Covering the full range of cleaning, infection control, hygiene and safety products, our endorsement shows that the claims made are genuine and have been scrutinised by the leading scientists in the ?eld. If successful, manufacturers can use our accreditation logo to demonstrate to consumers and other organisations that their claims for the product have been independently veri?ed.Product Accreditation ServiceContents1 Accreditation explained2 The bene?ts of accreditation3 Accreditation branding4 The accreditation process5 What happens next?6 Timescale7 Fee Structure8 Background to the organisation9 Contact usOur long standing clients value the independent assessment we provide to support the validity of the hygiene claims used in their marketing. Our endorsement enables them to market their technical excellence more effectively, and differentiates them from the competition.Accredited products can be promoted with our logo on packaging and in their marketing materials, including TV advertising and printed materials. This demonstrates your commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and health. We also provide an agreed statement of endorsement which can be used to promote accredited products. We communicate regularly with all the key groups involved in public health, and raise awareness of our accreditation partners and the role they are playing in improving standards. The Royal Society for Public Health is recognised worldwide so accreditation status will also be valued outside the UK.A show case of accredited products is available on our website along with a full product description and link to the companies’ websites. It demonstrates that our claims are substantiated with scienti?c evidence and that highly-experienced, independent scientists have reviewed this data and agree with us.” Dr Toby Saville, Head Microbiologist Dyson Ltd “Our users rely on Domestos to keep their homes hygienically clean and help reduce the spread of germs. Having an independent public health body examine our scienti?c data and agree with our hygiene claims means a great deal to us. It gives our consumers added con?dence in the performance of our product”.
