Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. OTC is held annually at Reliant Center in Houston.
OTC is organized and operated exclusively to promote and further the advance of scientific and technical knowledge of offshore resources and environmental matters.
Each year, OTC attracts more than 80,000 attendees from 110+ countries and 2,500 exhibiting companies.
OTC is sponsored by 13 industry organizations and societies, who work cooperatively to develop the technical program. OTC also has endorsing and supporting organizations.

Here are some tips on getting employer support to attend OTC:
- Offer to prepare and deliver a short presentation to your colleagues to share what you learned. That way, others on your team will gain the benefits of your attendance.
- Explain what you plan to get out of attending and how that will benefit your company.
- Be ready with a plan that shows who will cover for you while you are attending the conference.
- Offer to share a room to reduce hotel expenses and/or utilize our complimentary hotel shuttle service at official hotels to avoid renting a car.

OTC will once again host the OTC University R&D Showcase in 2013.
This showcase offers universities the opportunity to share with attendees their current and planned R&D projects that are relevant to offshore technology.
Showcase Benefits
- Participating universities will showcase their R&D projects during one of the four days of the conference.
- Universities will also receive four complimentary access passes for the day of their showcase.
Showcase Guidelines
- Space is assigned on a first come, first served basis.
- To be included in our printed on-site program, the application deadline is Monday, 14 January 2013.
- Applications will continue to be accepted through Monday, 11 March on a space-available basis.
The OTC 2013 technical program covers a wide range of topics related to the offshore energy industry. OTC offers key insights by leading experts on emerging technologies, project updates, best practices, safety and environmental issues, and the changing regulatory environment.

Offshore Regulation and Policy
Monday afternoon’s panel will offer a two-part discussion on how the industry can improve self-regulation and how the US federal and state government can coordinate regulations and policies.
Expanding Role of National Oil Companies (NOCs)
On Tuesday morning, a panel of executives from Petronas, Petrobras, Pemex, and others will talk about their increasing responsibilities and role within the global industry.
Expanding on the panel discussion, topical breakfasts and luncheons will feature keynote presentations from these NOCs to address their specific positions.
The active arena panel will focus on the perspectives of China’s offshore industry.
Project Updates
OTC offers project updates from around the world. Hear about the latest developments:
