Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) is pleased to announce that Timothy D. Giardina, who joined GBB as Principal Associate in December 2009, has been promoted to Vice President.

“It has been a pleasure working closely with Tim in the past couple of years and experiencing firsthand his drive, dedication, and expertise,” said Harvey W. Gershman, GBB President. “In his expanded role as Vice President, Tim will increase his contribution on GBB Project Teams, helping clients with his hands-on experience with running waste collection and service companies, and contribute to the firm’s expansion with additional business development responsibilities focused on collection-related consulting services.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity and look forward to my increased contribution in this new role with GBB,” said Tim Giardina, GBB Vice President. “My prior private sector hands-on experience in collection operations, procurement, and contracting will directly benefit our clients and will be the focus of my business development efforts.”

Mr. Giardina has over 25 years of industry experience with a focus on collection, transfer station, landfill, recycling and medical waste operations. In the past 18 months, as GBB Principal Associate, he’s had a key role in the successful review/procurement of collection programs for the City of Fort Wayne, IN, which included reviewing current garbage and recycling collection programs; providing recommendations/direction for future programs; and overseeing the procurement process with vendors. Guiding and facilitating this process resulted in annual savings to the City of $300,000 from current costs and an estimated savings of over $2 million from the City’s prior procurement process while also adding additional services.

With GBB, he also assisted with a performance evaluation of contractors for the City of Fort Worth, TX, which included a review of relevant contracts, call center data, and internal reports; interviews with City staff and contractors; and field observations and a market analysis.

Prior to joining GBB as a Principal Associate, he spent 13 years with Waste Management, Inc., handling increasing responsibilities ranging from Operations Manager, General Manager, and Senior Manager of Market Planning and Development. He previously held various positions for Browning-Ferris Industries in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Mr. Giardina has a highly accomplished and proven track record in operations, P&L management, acquisitions and strategic planning with both distressed and growth companies.  He is a results-oriented, decisive leader with a strong work ethic. He employs strategic thinking and problem-solving, and has a documented history of increasing sales and profitability.

He has distinguished himself by adhering to high quality standards of service, delivery and customer satisfaction and by bringing enthusiasm and integrity to business and the process itself. His areas of expertise include: Strategic Business Planning; Acquisitions, Mergers, Integration & Divestures; Coaching & Team Development; Union Negotiation & Avoidance; Operations Management; Quantitative Analysis; P&L Management; Cost Evaluation, Margin/Profit Improvement & ROI; Change Management; and Leadership and Staff Developmental.

Mr. Giardina has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with Majors in Management Information Systems and Accounting.
