EPA Region 7 and Partners Work Together to Increase Asthma Awareness and Conduct Asthma Screenings in Kansas City, Mo.
EPA Region 7 will partner with Children’s Mercy Hospital, Asthma Ready Communities, Black Health Care Coalition, and Boys & Girls Clubs for an asthma screening and awareness event at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City - J&D Wagner Unit, 2405 Elmwood, Kansas City, Mo.
The event is part of EPA’s ongoing effort to increase public awareness of the asthma epidemic and partner with organizations taking action to get asthma under control in the Kansas City community. EPA promotes scientific understanding of environmental asthma triggers and management through research, education and community-focused outreach. Similar events are being conducted with community organizations in Wichita, Kan.

ACTIVITIES:
3-4 p.m. – Activities with club kids
- EPA – Asthma lesson with EPA Region 7 Administrator Karl Brooks
- Children’s Mercy Hospital – Asthma video
- Black Health Care Coalition – Asthma activity
4-6 p.m. – Asthma Screenings (youth ages 5 and above) by Asthma Ready and Children’s Mercy Hospital
