Description:8-Hydroxyguanosine, an oxidized nucleoside, is a marker of RNA oxidative damage and oxidative stress. 8-Hydroxyguanosine stimulates proliferation and differentiation of murine B cells with immunostimulatory activity. 8-Hydroxyguanosine is promising for research of Alzheimer’s disease and Down’s syndrome.
In Vitro:8-Hydroxyguanosine (0.25 or 1.0 mM, 3 days) stimulates polyclonal immunoglobulin secretion and in the presence of antigen enhances the magnitude of the anti-TNP plaque-forming-cell antibody response to TNP-Ficoll [3].
In Vivo:8-Hydroxyguanosine (60 mg/kg, i.p., 4 h before LPS (1 mg/kg) injected) attenuates the LPS-induced increase in serum levels of TNF-α and IL-18 in LPS-treated mice[4].
