SURCAPRONE is an absorbable surgical suture made from Polyglecaprone 25, a copolymer consisting of 75% Glycolide and 25% Є-caprolactone. This monofilament suture exhibits minimal tissue reaction and its hydrolytic breakdown ensures complete absorption within 90 to 120 days. It retains around 30% of its initial tensile strength by the second week and approximately 60% after one week. Designed for superficial soft tissue approximation, it is suitable for use in general surgery, skin closure, gastrointestinal surgery, plastic surgery, gynecology, and urology. However, it is not recommended for cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurosurgery where longer wound support is essential. It is available in USP sizes 6/0 through 2 with optional needle packaging in one dozen or three dozen suture boxes. Absorption
The hydrolytic action by which the material is broken down results in total absorption in approximately 90 to 120 days. The material retains approximately 30% of its initial tensile strength at the end of second week. Approximately 60% of tensile strength remain after one week.
