R & L Medical - Calcium Sulphate
R&L Medical Calcium Sulphate is a fully absorbable calcium sulphate material that can be mixed with both liquid and powdered antibiotics. It serves as a bone graft substitute and is used to fill bone defects while delivering antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial infections. Through patented preparation method, the 98% pure α-phase calcium suphate hemihydrate offers excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and osteoconductivity, while maintaining an optimal balance between compressive strength and degradation rate. R&L Medical Calcium Sulphate has obtained NMPA Class III and meets the purity requirements for high-puritycalcium sulfate in surgical implants as specified in ASTM F2224-09, the Standard Specification for High Purity Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate or Dihydrate for Surgical Implants.
Optimal Mechanical Strength
Through its patented technology, a uniform and dense columnar crystal structure is formed, enhancing mechanical strength and stability. With compressive strength over four times that of human cancellous bone, it provides robust structural support for bone defects. Its excellent osteoconductivity promotes osteoblast adhesion and new bone ingrowth, facilitating effective bone regeneration.
Excellent Safety Profile
No heat is released during setting, avoiding thermal damage to nearby tissues. The material is highly biocompatible and fully resorbs in 2–3 months, matching natural bone healing. Its pure composition breaks down into non-toxic, pH-neutral ions (Ca²+and SO4²- ), minimizing inflammation, allergy, and surgical risk.
Sustained Antibiotic Elution Profile
Optimized pore structure enables precise antibiotic loading and sustained release. This improves local antibiotic concentration and bioavailability while reducing systemic toxicity. Enables infection-specific antibiotic customization, suitable for treating infected fractures, joint infections, and post-tumor bone defects.
Quick Setting & Easy Shaping
After mixing for 30–60 seconds, the powder and liquid form a moldable paste within 3 minutes, adaptable to bone defects of various shapes and sizes. The material fully sets within 10–15 minutes, making it ready for implantation and suitable for diverse clinical contouring needs.
