Luvata - Model MRI -Wires
Luvata MRI wires are essential for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), which plays a crucial role in diagnostic medicine. Our superconducting wire & cable and hollow conductors provide the intense magnetic fields that these instruments require. As higher-field MRI systems become standard in major hospitals, we collaborate with leading suppliers to develop optimal superconducting wire and the highest performance hollow conductors to make MRI more affordable and accessible around the world.
With decades of expertise, we manufacture high-quality, custom-engineered solutions across three continents. Each solution is tailored to meet the unique needs of customers around the globe. Luvata’s superconductors are the backbone of critical scientific, energy, and healthcare applications, such as MRI scanners.

Luvata is a world-leader in producing niobium-titanium (NbTi)-based low-temperature superconducting wires and niobium-tin (Nb3Sn) composite wire. Our unique internal-tin (IT) process enhances the quality of Nb3Sn wires. We offer a range of products from single filament to ultra-fine multi-filament wires. Our team collaborates with customers to improve existing systems and offer new high-quality and cost-efficient solutions. With our new hot extrusion press further improves the quality of superconductive wires and cables. Having facilities in Finland, the USA, and China, we support strategic partnerships and sustainable industry growth globally.
Luvata’s superconducting wires and cables elevate performance and quality, making end products more efficient and even smaller in size. With vertically integrated production and in-house copper manufacturing, we offer high-quality, cost-effective superconductors in the following forms:
Enamelled monolithic wires in round and rectangular configurations
- Wire-in-channel or cable-in-channel integrated conductors
- Nb-Sn conductors by ‘internal-tin’ and ‘bronze’ methods
- Insulated cables composed of superconductive and copper wires
Our superconducting wire & cable are utilized globally in e.g., MRI scanners, NMR spectrometers and proton beam therapy. The increasing demand for cutting-edge technologies in MRI and proton beam therapy motivates us. Recently, the reducing use of liquid helium and the use of AI in diagnostics have been changing the industry. We stay ahead of developments and collaborate with customers to enhance system performance or offer entirely new solutions. Additionally, we recognize the expanding market for crystal pullers used in the production of monocrystalline silicon.
