These keratomes are used in many US surgery centers for cost savings. We use these blades personally at our US based surgery center and can vouch for their quality and dependability. These are not black diamond blades and actually perform much better being created by a diamond cutting company in Switzerland that has been cutting diamonds since 1961. The special plastic handled one has been designed for maximum savings and functions the same as the aluminum handled version. If cared for properly, one keratome can be used for 100 - 200 uses reducing the cost to .45 - .90/case. (some surgeons report up to 500 cases with these blades)
