Our Story

Founded in New Zealand in 2005, Izon Science took its name in 2008, focusing its mission on becoming a global leader at the intersection of nanotechnology and biology. Under the leadership of CEO and co-founder Hans van der Voorn, Izon grew its team, expertise and product range in nanoparticle separation and analysis.

Izon is the world leader in tunable resistive pulse sensing (TRPS), a measurement technology which enables nanoparticles to be analysed with an unmatched level of resolution. This capability provides critical insights into sample characteristics, advancing nanomedicine and a broad spectrum of biological research.

Also central to Izon’s portfolio is the qEV isolation platform, a highly versatile solution for nanoparticle purification based on size exclusion chromatography (SEC) qEV columns. The introduction of the Automatic Fraction Collector (AFC) in 2019 marked a major shift from labour-intensive manual collection to a rapid and reproducible method that can be scaled up for larger-scale studies.

Initially developed to enable efficienct sample purification for TRPS analysis, the qEV platform has become indispensable for laboratories and manufacturing facilities working with extracellular vesicles (EVs), with applications now extending beyond EVs.

Izon’s developments extend further, offering solutions such as liquid handling systems for high-throughput nanoparticle purification, customised qEV columns for industrial-scale processing, and automated chromatography units, including those designed for cGMP-compliant environments. These advancements reflect Izon’s commitment to delivering precise, scalable solutions for diagnostic and therapeutic applications worldwide.
