FosteraModel PRRS -Porcine Reproductive & Respiratory Syndrome Vaccine

Fostera PRRS is for the vaccination of healthy, susceptible swine in herds testing positive for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus as well as for negative pigs that may be exposed to PRRS virus (PRRSV) as an aid in preventing reproductive and respiratory diseases caused by PRRSV.

Indications

For vaccination of healthy, susceptible swine 1-day of age or older in PRRS virus-positive herds as an aid in preventing reproductive and respiratory diseases caused by PRRS virus.1

  • A 19-week duration of immunity against reproductive disease has been demonstrated in swine vaccinated pre-breeding.
  • 26-week duration of immunity has been demonstrated against respiratory disease.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Do not vaccinate boars of breeding age.
  • Sterile syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine.
  • Vaccine virus can be killed if exposed to disinfectants used to clean and sterilize syringes.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • Vaccine virus may be shed and transmitted to other populations of swine in direct or indirect contact with vaccinated swine. The duration of potential vaccine virus transmission may vary. Nonvaccinated pigs in contact with pigs vaccinated with Fostera® PRRS may seroconvert to vaccine virus. Use of the vaccine in herds intended to remain PRRS virus-seronegative is contraindicated. Introduction of vaccinated pigs into herds intended to remain PRRS virus-seronegative is contraindicated.

Storage and Handling :

  • Store at 2° to 7° C (35° to 45° F). Do not freeze.
  • Use entire contents when first reconstituted.
  • Burn containers and all unused contents.
