Surgimedic - Model SURCRYL Rapid -Absorbable Polyglycolic Acid Sutures
FromSurgimedic
SURCRYL rapid sutures are crafted from absorbable polyglycolic acid, featuring a braided and coated multi-filament design. The sutures are coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, exhibiting minimal tissue reaction and are designed for rapid absorption via hydrolysis in approximately 42 days. This product retains about 50% of its tensile strength after one week, making it suitable for procedures requiring short-term wound support. Indications for use include superficial soft tissue approximation, especially in plastic surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, ophthalmic surgery, and pediatric treatments. SURCRYL rapid should not be used in scenarios necessitating long-term tensile strength or support of over 7 days. Available in various USP and metric sizes, it comes in boxes with needles, with packaging options for single or bulk orders. Most popular related searches

- Fast absorbing polyglycolic acid is intended to model the performance of collagen (surgical gut) suture.
- High tensile strength.
- Excellent handling.
- Excellent knot security.
- Excellent tissue support.
- Smooth passage through the tissues.
Absorption
The hydrolytic action by which the material is broken down results in total absorption in approximately 42 days.
Approximately 50% of tensile strength remain after one week.
Indications
Superficial soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, where only short-term wound support is required especially in :
- Plastic surgery.
- Obstetrics (Episiotomy repair).
- Gynaecology.
- Urology (Circumcision).
- Ophthalmic surgery (Conjunctiva).
- Pediatric surgery
Contradiction
Due to rapid loss of tensile strength, this suture should not be used where extended approximation of tissue under stress is required or where wound support beyond 7 days is required.
Packaging
SURCRYL rapid is available in USP sizes 6/0 through 1 (metric sizes 0.7-4.0). SURCRYL rapid is available with needles in one dozen boxes.
