Prevention of disease is always better than treatment, and one of the most important measures for preventing infections in aquaculture is vaccination. Generally, today’s vaccines provide effective protection against most production-related diseases. Diseases that previously caused high mortality are no longer a problem, thanks to vaccination. This has also led to a significant reduction in the use of antibiotics, making Norwegian farmed fish the production animal with the lowest annual antibiotic consumption in the world.
