Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency where the heart suddenly stops beating. It results from malfunction of the heart's electrical system, causing an irregular rhythm or complete cessation of the heart's pumping action. Immediate medical attention is crucial as it severely impairs blood flow to vital organs, including the brain, leading to potential brain damage and death within minutes.

Solution
Both the American Heart Association (AHA)1 and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC)2 recommend targeted temperature management (TTM) for adults who remain comatose after resuscitation from cardiac arrest. According to their guidelines, the target temperature should be maintained between 32°C and 36°C for at least 24 hours. Additionally, both organizations emphasize the importance of actively preventing fever (temperature >37.7°C) for at least 72 hours after the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in comatose patients. These measures aim to improve neurological outcomes and increase survival rates.
