Land Rigs Services
KCA DEUTAG has been carrying out land drilling operations for more than 100 years. We currently perform exploration, field development and workover operations for a wide range of clients and in different environments from desert to Arctic conditions. Our rigs are operating in several regional markets including Africa, Asia, the Caspian, Europe, Middle East, and Russia.
Long track record
We have a long track record of continuous drilling operations in several countries, including more than 40 years in both Oman and Libya, and more than 15 years in Nigeria.
Our land drilling fleet numbers more than 60 rigs ranging from compact workover units to large 3,000hp drilling rigs capable of drilling wells in excess of 25,000ft.
We also manage rigs on behalf of our clients and have experience working closely with state-owned companies.
Innovative rig designs
KCA DEUTAG has an on-going rig building and upgrade programme. New, innovative rig designs include the Nomad class highly mobile rig for desert terrain, the T-208 modular, fast-moving rig, and the HR-5000 series winterised, hybrid rig, designed for the Russian market.
One Nomad rig started drilling for BP in Algeria in Q4 2007. The T-208 is already operating for OMV in Austria under a three-year contract with options, and TNK-BP and Achimgas have awarded contracts to KCA DEUTAG for its HR-5000 series rigs in East and North Siberia respectively.
In addition to the programme of new builds, over the past three years the majority of our existing fleet has been refurbished and upgraded under a major modernisation programme.
