Radiological Services
Tidewater’s Radiological Services Division provides radiological site survey and modeling, radiological remediation and operations, and radiation safety services throughout the world. The major clients include colleges and universities, the Department of Energy, US Army Corps of Engineers, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission license holders. Tidewater holds nationwide reciprocal radioactive materials licenses and maintains a complete inventory of calibrated, field-ready health physics instruments, including portable gamma spectroscopy systems, large area gas flow proportional counters, low-energy gamma detectors, and a variety of hand-held detection instruments for alpha, beta, gamma, and neutron detection.
Tidewater also has developed a proprietary Mapping and Radiation Survey System (MARSS) to characterize, map, and report radiological conditions. The system is useful for scoping and final status surveys, as well as real-time response to actual or hypothetical releases of radioactive material. MARSS is specifically designed to plan, perform, and coordinate radiological surveys; then manage, evaluate, and communicate radiation measurement data. Its survey planning and measurement capture capability support MARSSIM site characterization and final status surveys. Its integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) capability is directly applicable for use during radiological incident coordination, planning, and response.
