Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has become the most important determinant in the process of globalisation, and as such, it is changing the economies of many countries. The main objective of this research is to investigate the nature of FDI inflows into the Turkish pharmaceutical industry and examine whether local or multinational firms drive the changing market. The paper indicates that when considering FDI, potential benefits must be weighed against potential costs. It is recommended that countries be cautious about maintaining local producers while involving multinationals in their industries.
