This book is an update of the book of the same title, providing important extensions of unique techniques of numerical analyses of beams, long strips, circular plates, and circular-cylindrical tanks resting on elastic foundations and/or unyielding/elastic supports. Elastic foundations are modelled either as Winkler springs or elastic half-space-type continua (isotropic or cross-anisotropic). The solution techniques applied incorporate a variant of the direct stiffness method (beams, strips, tank walls) and energy based finite difference approach (circular plates, tank bases, roof plates). For analysis of tank roofs in the form of shells of revolution (large-diameter tanks – one of the new features), a finite element method is employed. Most load types of practical importance are catered for, including temperature change and shrinkage/swelling effects (circular plates and cylindrical tanks). A large number of examples are included for illustration and as help for users of the included software.
