Anaerobic digestion allows the valorisation of by-products and wastewater from food & beverage processing industry, such as dairies, slaughterhouses and breweries. The main concept behind a Waste-to-Energy plant is to completely use the energy contained in the waste before disposal. The plant converts by-products and wastewater into biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide), using a biological process called anaerobic digestion.
