Model WD1220 - Health Monitor Watchdog Module
The WD1220 Watchdog Module assures system integrity by continuously monitoring the health of the PC and informing users of potential problems at the earliest opportunity. The Watchdog system comprises two parts; a software watchdog module that runs on the PC and the external watchdog hardware that indicates failure. A dedicated serial communications port on the PC is used to communicate with the watchdog hardware. The software watchdog module running within the enVigil server constantly examines the processes that perform the main functions of the enVigil software and verifies that they are running correctly. It also verifies that data log files are being created and updated in a timely manner. If any process hangs or the log files fail to update, the software watchdog informs the hardware watchdog module to sound an alarm.
To further enhance system integrity, if the hardware watchdog module itself does not receive regular communication from the software watchdog, then it independently sounds the alarm. The sounder can be muted by pressing the mute button on the front, but the fault indication remains until the fault is rectified.
The WD1220 itself is a compact unit ideal for dado mounting using the back box supplied with it, or surface mounting using the optional stainless-steel mounting box.
