F.P.S. LaboMill - Jet Mills for R&D Applications
The LaboMill jet mills are designed for R&D laboratories focusing on the micronization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other chemical compounds. This series caters to labs requiring micronization processes for small quantities, from 10mg to 100g, and demonstrates efficiency with its minimized component design which adheres to cGMP standards. The LaboMill-0 model stands out as the world`s smallest fluid jet mill, suitable for initial pharmaceutical molecule development, ensuring enhanced surface area with minimal substance use. The LaboMill-1 and Pm1 models further support early development stages, offering scalability even with batch sizes as small as 200mg. All models seamlessly integrate into FPS isolators, ensuring safe processing of highly active or sterile substances. Through a focus on miniaturization, they maintain performance and reliability akin to larger systems.
The R&D jet mill series is engineered to meet the requirements of R&D labs, where new products are developed and micronization process is requested on small quantities (from minimum 10mg to 100g).
These series belong to a jet mill family which is the result of an unparalleled optimization study. All connections of components are made to be in compliance with cGMPs and to assure quick and easy assembling and disassembling operations. The number of components is reduced at minimum in order to speed up also cleaning and validation activities.
The R&D jet mills may be easily integrated into FPS isolators to allow the process of very high active or sterile products.
The LaboMill-0 is the first world smallest fluid jet mill. It can be used for initial development studies of a pharmaceutical molecule, to test the applicability of the micronization process, and to increase the specific surface area of molecules under development that are available in limited quantities.
LaboMill-0 represents the right solution for preliminary feasibility micronization trials with milligrams batches of New Chemical Entities, as well as of many other products.
The system is based on the proven FPS Spiral Jet Mill technology and it’s designed to effectively operate despite the miniaturized dimensions and to maintaining a high performance level and reliability.

LaboMill-1 / Pm1 are laboratory micronizers, used especially in the early stages of development and when only extremely small batch sizes are available. The very limited amount of material (as low as 200 mg) requires the use of very special equipment designed and developed earlier through a “miniaturization” process. But despite the small size, LaboMill-1 and Pm1 are able to ensure full scalability of the micronization process.
LaboMill-1 allow a discharge configuration from below while PM1 a top discharge configuration where product recovery inside the filter bag.
LaboMill-1 and Pm1 jet mills can be easily integrated within an FPS isolator system for the safe handling and processing of APIs or toxic products.
