NutraGlide - Model NG/NJ - Nasal Feeding Tubes
Understanding Nasal Tube Feeding: Individuals experiencing gastrointestinal complications may rely upon enteral nutrition (EN) support. One of the first and least invasive delivery methods for EN is having a nasal tube placed to provide gastrointestinal tract access. Nasal tubes are bidirectional, meaning they can be used for decompression/drainage, enteral feeding, administering medications, and so forth. A nasal tube is placed by inserting the tube through the nose, advancing it down the esophagus, and ending in the stomach (called nasogastric or NG tube) or the small intestine (called nasojejunal or NJ tube). Nasal tube feedings can be a great option for individuals requiring short-term enteral nutrition support ranging from 1 to 6 weeks.
More than 1.2 million small bore nasal feeding tubes are placed annually within the United States1. Two of the most common issues with nasal tubes are accidental dislodgement and occlusion. AMT addresses both of these issues to improve patient outcomes! The AMT Bridle™ Family is designed to dramatically reduce the occurrence of accidental tube dislodgement, avoid skin breakdown and lead to cost savings. While the NutraGlide® is designed to reduce tube clogging through its unique reverse taper tube with inner and outer diameters that increase from the proximal to distal ends of the tube.
Designed to Reduce Clogging
- NutraGlide® features a unique increasing internal diameter and open distal tip which is designed to reduce clogging.
Decrease Replacement Tubes
- When compared to the NutraGlide®, a straight tube is more than twice as difficult to expel a clog formation.2
Improve Comfort
- Smaller proximal diameter of the nasal tube within the nasal passage “may improve patient comfort and likely decrease the incidence of sinusitis.”2
Safe + Secure
- The AMT quality you expect, compatible with the AMT Bridle™ and Bridle Pro® Nasal Tube Retaining Systems.
The NutraGlide® Nasal Feeding Tube is indicated for the administration of nutrition, medication, and fluids in neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.
Increasing Internal Diameter
Reduce Clogging Risk and Facilitate Clog Removal
Guidewire Compatibility
The NutraGlide® is guidewire compatible throughout the entire length of the device.
Safe + Secure
Compatible with the AMT Bridle™ Family of Devices
The inner and outer diameters of the NutraGlide® Nasal Feeding Tube gradually increase from the proximal entry port to the distal tip, which is designed to allow for improved flow and reduces the risk of clog formation. The reverse taper tube design also makes it easier to remove a clog, if one should form.2 The 5F NutraGlide® transitions from 5F at the proximal entry port to 6F at the distal tip; similarly, the 8F NutraGlide® transitions from 8F to 10F and the 10F NutraGlide® transitions from 10F to 12F (proximal to distal).
A Successful Combination!
When used together, the AMT Bridle™ or Bridle Pro® with NutraGlide® improve nutrition, promote recovery, and decrease costs.
