O2Vent - Model Optima - Oral Devices
The O2Vent Optima is our latest product in the O2Vent oral device range. O2Vent Optima is 3D printed with durable nylon. The lower jaw can be moved forward to a comfortable range while also allowing the integrated airway channel to bypass nasal congestion and other areas of airway collapse, such as from the tongue, soft palate and lateral walls.
O2Vent devices are 3D printed for a precision fit, unique to each individual and designed with an integrated airway channel.
The O2Vent Optima comes assembled with Protrusion bars. Protrusion Bars are available in 9 sizes (13mm-21mm). Your dental healthcare professional will determine what size is right for you. Once your bar size has been determined, it is recommended to change both bars monthly. Protrusion Bars can be re-ordered in an annual pack of 25.
The O2Vent Optima comes assembled with ‘soft’ strength connector bands. Connecter bands are available in 9 sizes (13mm-21mm). Your dental healthcare professional will determine what size is right for you. Once your band size has been determined, it is recommended to change both bands monthly as they may lose elasticity. Connecter bands can be re-ordered in an annual pack of 25. ‘Firm’ strength band sizes are also available if your dental healthcare professional determines a firmer strength band is required.
Traditionally, sleep apnea patients who are identified with having nasal obstruction have not been considered to be a good candidate for oral appliances and are routinely prescribed CPAP. This is because the natural reaction of not being able to breathe through your nose is to mouth breathe. If a standard oral device were prescribed, a patient might find it difficult to tolerate because both the obstruction in the nose and oral appliance in the mouth would limit the capacity to breathe.
The O2Vent airway channel has been incorporated into each device that enables unobstructed air to flow through the device to the back of the throat, bypassing common sites of obstruction such as the nose, tongue and soft palate.
- Air can be drawn into the O2Vent Optima if there is a nasal or soft palate blockage

Unlike other oral devices the O2Vent Optima has two mechanisms of action that add stability to the airway:
- A mechanism of advancing the jaw forward encouraging a more open airway.
- Incorporates an airway channel that further stabilizes the airway.
- Individuals who snore or who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea.
- Individuals who suffer nasal congestion or a blocked nose and revert to mouth breathing during sleep.
- Patients who cannot tolerate or desire an alternative to CPAP and who seek the advice of a medical provider, which can result in a prescription for the O2Vent Optima.
