Dolphin Sutures - Model Petcryl Fast - Polyglactin Rapid Suture
Petcryl 910 Fast is the brand name of quick absorbing Polyglactin 910 sutures made by Dolphin Sutures. Dolphin Sutures is the first Indian brand to introduce Polyglactin sutures in India.
Petcryl Fast suture is a braided and coated synthetic absorbable suture and is a co-polymer of 90% Glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Due to the low molecular weight compared to regular Polyglactin 910 or Polyglycolic Acid sutures, Petcryl 910 Fast sutures achieve rapid absorption in the tissues. Petcryl Fast is similar in composition to Vicryl Rapide sutures and exhibits similar absorption properties.
Polyglactin Fast suture a type of Vicryl Suture retains tensile strength of about 50% of initial strength at 5 days of implantation and are ideal for short term wound support..
Polyglactin Fast suture or Vicryl suture is a much superior alternative to catgut sutures since its absorption is more predictable, tensile strength is better and it exhibits little or no tissue reaction. Petcryl 910 Fast or Vicryl sutures are available in undyed form. Also available:- Polyglactin 910 regular absorption

- Polyglactin 910 Fast suture is a synthetic, braided and coated absorbable suture.
- Polyglactin 910 Fast sutures are available from U.S.P. size 2 to size 6-0.
- Polyglactin 910 Fast sutures are composed of copolymers made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide.
- Polyglactin 910 Fast sutures are coated with equal parts of a copolymer of lactide and glactide with calcium stearate.
- Polyglactin 910 Fast sutures absorb by simple hydrolytic mechanism and absorption is predictable.
- Polyglactin 910 Fast suture retains approximately 50% of the tensile strength after 5 days and 0% after 10 -14 days and the suture is essentially absorbed within 35-42 days.
- Petcryl 910 Fast sutures is specially coated with Poly (glycolide-Co-L-lactide) in order to create a smoother suture that will pass through tissue easily and since the suture is white (undyed) it can be easily visible during suturing.
- Petcryl 910 Fast sutures have good knot security and it has easy knot placement.
- Petcryl 910 Fast sutures are available with needles made from 300 series alloy steel for superior strength, sharpness and performance.
- Petcryl 910 Fast sutures absorbs quickly, hence it is ideal in cases where short term tissue approximation is required.
- Polyglactin Rapid sutures are individually packed in a primary medical grade paper folder
- Individually packed sutures are then packed in a tear-open or peel-open aluminum foil, with less than 300ppm moisture
- Aluminum foils are further packed in a secondary medical grade paper pouch laminated with polyester laminated poly film
- Sutures are further packed in small cartons made from premium 320 GSM Cyber XLPac in 12 suture pack
- Boxes are further laminated in tamper proof film to protect it from dirt/dust
- Further, the sutures are packed in an export worthy 7 ply master carton which can accommodate 100 boxes ( 70 x 30 x 30 cms) – weighing up to 9 to 10kg and 200 boxes ( 70 x 29 x 59 cms) – weighing up to 18kg
