Biomechanical Anaylsis Services
In the last 30 years, safety features in motor vehicles have evolved tremendously to include crush zones, advanced seatbelts and airbags, head restraints and more. However, despite the latest safety features available in motor vehicles, injuries are still a common result in collisions. The science of impact biomechanics examines the forces that act on a human body during a motor vehicle collision and analyzes how the body will respond to those forces.
EFI Global can analyze the forces in any collision and render opinions about collision severity from a biomechanical standpoint. Our experts have participated in actual biomechanical impact testing and research and can deliver opinions that are based on the practical application of impact biomechanics, as well as the theory.
Our analysis can include opinions concerning the following:
- The types of injuries that can be expected in a particular collision
- The mechanics of a specific injury
- The role of safety features such as seatbelts, airbags, or head restraints in preventing or contributing to a particular injury
- The likelihood of injury in a particular collision event
We can also perform “desktop analysis” to provide an overview of the likelihood and expected types of injuries resulting from a low-speed collision. In this type of analysis, our experts analyze the available data from a low-speed collision, including police reports, statements, photographs, repair records and medical records, to provide an initial biomechanical opinion while maintaining cost efficiency.
