Messenger RNA (mRNA) is responsible for transferring genetic information from DNA to proteins. With advances in in vitro transcription (IVT) technology, it has been possible to synthesize mRNA from either plasmid-based DNA templates or DNA PCR amplified from plasmids. mRNA synthesized by IVT methods could be sequence optimized to improve efficiency of translation as well as chemically modified to reduce immunogenicity and increase mRNA stability.
