Movesense

Movesense originated from an internal concept project of the Finnish sports watch manufacturer Suunto (www.suunto.com), which proved to be so versatile that the company decided to offer it to third parties for the implementation of new product concepts. Movesense development started in 2015 and the platform was published in the end of 2016. Developers received the first beta versions of the sensor in the spring of 2017 and the 1.0 firmware for the sensor was published in the end of 2017. On Oct 1st 2021, Movesense became an independent company and continues to build the development platform for both medical and sports use cases in close collaboration with Suunto. Movesense is an open wearables development platform built by Suunto and made available to all interested companies and developers. Movesense operates as an internal startup inside Suunto with the mission to empower anyone with a great idea to create and commercialize their own wearable technology product.
