The sutures are coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, exhibiting minimal tissue reaction and are designed for rapid absorption via hydrolysis in approximately 42 days. This product retains about 50% of its tensile strength after one week, making it suitable for procedures requiring short-term wound support. Indications for use include superficial soft tissue approximation, especially in plastic surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, ophthalmic surgery, and pediatric treatments. SURCRYL rapid should not be used in scenarios necessitating long-term tensile strength or support of over 7 days. Available in various USP and metric sizes, it comes in boxes with needles, with packaging options for single or bulk orders.

Surgimedic - Absorbable Polyglycolic Acid Sutures

SUTCRYL is a type of absorbable suture designed primarily for general and specialized surgical applications. Made from a braided and coated multifilament composition, it utilizes a polyglactine 910 copolymer consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. For optimal functionality, the sutures are coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, enhancing their smooth passage through tissue with minimal reaction. The material is distinctive in its violet color and provides consistent tensile strength, retaining 75% at the end of the second week and 50% after three weeks. Ideal for soft tissue approximation or ligation in various surgeries including skin, gastrointestinal, plastic, gynecological, and ophthalmic, it completes its absorption process over 56 to 70 days due to hydrolysis. Contrarily, it is not suited for cardiovascular or neurosurgery where prolonged wound support might be necessary. Available in sizes ranging from USP 6/0 to 2, SUTCRYL meets diverse surgical needs and can be supplied with needles, customizable in packaging quantities.

Surgimedic - Absorbable Polyglecaprone Sutures

SURCAPRONE is an absorbable surgical suture made from Polyglecaprone 25, a copolymer consisting of 75% Glycolide and 25% Є-caprolactone. This monofilament suture exhibits minimal tissue reaction and its hydrolytic breakdown ensures complete absorption within 90 to 120 days. It retains around 30% of its initial tensile strength by the second week and approximately 60% after one week. Designed for superficial soft tissue approximation, it is suitable for use in general surgery, skin closure, gastrointestinal surgery, plastic surgery, gynecology, and urology. However, it is not recommended for cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurosurgery where longer wound support is essential. It is available in USP sizes 6/0 through 2 with optional needle packaging in one dozen or three dozen suture boxes. This specialized suture is directed towards addressing specific surgical needs by providing optimal material characteristics to ensure efficient and safe healing.
