Wenger Manufacturing, Inc.
In 1935, during the height of the Great Depression in America, Joe Wenger and his brother Lou founded the Wenger Mixer Company. They had developed a unique grinder-blender system that added molasses to low-value roughage, providing desperately needed cattle feed to struggling farmers. The company was founded in their small, rural hometown of Sabetha, Kansas. And from this unlikely location, a global industry was born. In the following years, the Wenger brothers would introduce to the world an innovative machine that would continuously blend molasses with dry feedstuffs under pressure and extrude – via a screw mechanism – product in pellet form. This was the world’s first extrusion cooking system, and remains the basis for all commercial extruders in use globally. Global Leader in Extrusion Cooking Systems. Complete process solutions for plant-based proteins, pet foods, and aquatic feed.
