M O D E L 2 0 1 EThe Model 201E NH3 analyzer measuresambient ammonia in selectable ranges from 0-50 ppb to 0-2,000 ppb using thechemiluminescence principle and an API-designed external ammonia converter andsampling system. Ranges are user selectable in1 ppb increments and auto ranging is available.Ammonia is difficult to measure accuratelybecause of a tendency to be absorbed into othermaterials. The “stickiness” of the gas results inslow response times and inaccurateconcentration values. The Model 201E has beendesigned to overcome the problems of ammoniagas analysis through increased flow, minimumsurface area and selected constructionmaterials.In operation, sample gas is passed throughthe M501NH converter, which converts NH3 andother compounds to NO, producing the totaloxides of nitrogen (TNX). In the next cycle thesample is routed through a molybdenumconverter which converts nitrogen oxides (lessNH3) to NO, producing the Tn reading. Thedifference between these readings (TNX – TN =NH3) provides a reading proportional to the NH3concentration.
