ExSpiron 1XiModel Minute -Respiratory Ventilation Monitor

SHARE

Minute Ventilation is the amount of air someone breathes in a minute. A change in minute ventilation is the first indication of respiratory deterioration.

Minute Ventilation is the volume of air moved through the lungs in one minute

The ExSpiron uses patient size to calculate a predicted minute ventilation, which is that patients normal breathing at rest. This is defined as the patients 100% predicted minute ventilation (MVPRED)

ExSpiron continuously measures and displays the patient’s real time MVPRED using data from the PadSet. The ExSpiron displays the MVPRED both as a number and a trend.

  1. Hyperventilation (as seen in COVID-19, RSV, and other viral pneumonias) is an increase in minute ventilation and when %MVPRED sustains at greater than 300% it may indicate a need for intervention
  2. Hypoventilation is a decrease in minute ventilation volume and when %MVPRED sustains at less than 40% for a consecutive 2 minutes for adults and 30 seconds for pediatrics and may indicate a need for intervention.
  3. The ExSpiron also detects episodes of apnea.
