Drinking Water Treatment

SHARE

If drinking water is taken from dams or from rivers, very often a very important component part of the treatment process are sedimentation tanks, with upstream coagulation and precipitation.

The sedimentation tanks can be round or rectangular, with or without sets of lamellas to help increase efficiency, but in virtually all cases they also need to have a scraper installation to dispose of the sludge. In the case of rectangular basins, we fit, almost exclusively, DEWA chain scrapers, as they ensure continuous skimming of the bottom sludge and are also able to operate safely under sets of lamellas.

A very important point to watch out for in the case of drinking water plants: all of the skimming system`s component parts must be approved for use in drinking water. This approval exists for our DEWA scrapers and is being constantly updated. What is also important in the case of such plants with bottom scrapers is the monitoring of the automatic operation which sometimes has to be carried out in deep water levels. There are notes available on this as well.
