Double Manhole Renewal
Aarsleff Pipe Technologies has extensive experience in renewing double manholes. We have developed a very effective and robust method that does not require excavation. The method is therefore also interesting from both a financial as well as an environmental perspective. Also, our method means that we are able to renew double manholes without significant inconvenience to the surroundings. Apart from a few changes, we also use the method when we transform an access manhole into an inspection manhole.
The basic principle in our method for double manhole renewal is installation of a manhole riser which separates rainwater and wastewater effectively. At the same time, this method makes it possible to carry out CCTV inspections of both sewer pipes. In this way, we are also contributing to the future inspection and possible maintenance of the pipe system of which the double manhole in question is a part of. The shaft is made of a soft and flexible material, resistant to most chemicals.
We install the manhole riser by cutting up the existing cover plate and replacing it with a new one which we fasten with bolts and flat bars made of stainless steel after which we seal it with silicone. Then, we install the manhole riser, and finally we brace it against the manhole wall. The result is an efficient separation of rainwater and wastewater.
Of course, our method will affect the flow through the rainwater section of the manhole, as the manhole riser will break the water flow. This will reduce the water flow but will not cause problems, as the impoundment in the manhole can take place without nuisance. We always finish the renewal by controlling that we have achieved the optimum result.
