GROUND participates in several national sample programs and is routinely inspected by both the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) administered by the National Institute of Standards in Washington, D.C. GROUND Maintains accreditation through the AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP). Our laboratory routinely passes rigorous inspections by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Resilient Modulus Testing

GROUND`s use of resilient modulus testing can save you money on your pavement thickness and subgrade preparation. GROUND is the only commercial laboratory in the State of Colorado that provides resilient modulus testing. All pavement designs are based on the resilient modulus of the supporting subgrade soils. Most pavement engineers obtain the resilient modulus used for design by performing other, less accurate test methods, and use correlations to obtain the resilient modulus. Using a GCTS resilient modulus/Triaxial Testing Machine, GROUND is capable of performing resilient modulus testing for asphalt and soil, including cohesive granular and treated soils.

Internal Quality Control

Our laboratory facilities maintain a rigorous quality assurance and check program. This program includes intensive audits by AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL), the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Colorado Department of Transportation. Laboratory personnel are trained by experienced supervisors and demonstrate proficiency in testing procedures, instrumentation operation and data reduction. The instrumentation in the laboratory is regularly calibrated. Certified professional technicians complete documented calibration of the equipment. Laboratory samples are identified with a unique sample number, which is utilized in tracking the sample through the laboratory and for sample data tracking and archiving.

Mobile Laboratories

GROUND Engineering Consultants has the capability of providing our clients with on-site mobile field laboratories. Our twelve mobile laboratories give GROUND the ability to respond quickly to many challenges which may arise in the day-to-day construction schedule, including testing, curing and sample storage and rapid report generation. An on-site laboratory can be utilized to reduce sample errors due to cold weather construction, and to facilitate faster and more cost effective results.
